Ingredients in Cheesy Italian Bread

  • French Bread – if you are feeling very fancy, then you can bake your own bread. However, we usually just get the foil wrapped French bread loaf from the grocery store.
  • Cheddar Cheese – We usually use cheddar cheese, but you can use shredded mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, or an Italian cheese blend.
  • Tomatoes
  • Italian Seasoning – if you don’t have Italian seasoning, then you can make your own Italian spices blend. In a small bowl mix together basil, oregano, rosemary, thyme, and marjoram.

I had this in France, but slightly different. It was with slices of mozzarella cheese, basil, tomatoes, and herbes de provence. It is definitelyoria one of my favorites!

  2. Another yummy variation that's a hit in my house.. Grate some zucchinni, carrot, and onion. Saute it in butter, Salt and pepper to tatse, and place that on a lightly mayo'd bread of your choice, add a slice of tomato and then cheese. Broil until the cheese is melted.

    Try it, you'll love it!

This looks like a great variation to a family favorite of ours. We especially love this in the summer with garden grown tomatoes! I've never tried it with basil or italian seasoning. Good ole salt and pepper though.
