You’ve heard of ham and pineapple pizza, but have you heard of ham and pineapple wraps? These ham and pineapple wraps are so easy to make and really yummy. You will love the sweet, tanginess of the pineapple with the savory taste of the ham. Add the crunch of the lettuce and you’ve honestly got it all! These wraps are great for picnics now that the weather is getting warmer! Just throw in some chips, some fresh fruit, and some drinks and you have yourself a perfect picnic lunch! I remember the first time I tried these, Echo made them when we were out on the lake for everyone for lunch. I have loved them ever since, and my kids love them now too.

Ingredients in Ham and Pineapple Wraps

  • Cream cheese
  • Fresh pineapple – or drained, canned pineapple
  • Mission Wraps – I like the Garden Spinach Herb
  • Sliced deli ham
  • Romaine lettuce
  • Sliced tomato – optional

Making Ham and Pineapple Wraps Your Own

I love adding things to these ham and pineapple wraps to make them a little different every time. I have added tomatoes, peppers, carrots, olives, and spinach to these too as a variation! I’ve also added cucumbers and sprouts. Honestly the possibilities are endless! If you have people who aren’t fans of pineapple in your group, you can make a ranch wrap by mixing the cream cheese with a ½ cup of ranch. In fact, my husband actually likes it better that way! I like using the Mission Spinach Wraps but you can put these toppings on regular sandwich bread or hoagie rolls!

Frequently Asked Questions

What to put on ham sandwiches?

We like to mix sweet pineapple with ham, but other great options are pickles, tomatoes, cheese, lettuce, onion, honey mustard, mayo, and any of these things can be put on bread or a roll, or you could layer your ingredients and wrap them up in a tortilla for a fun twist with tasty tortilla roll ups.

Why do people put pineapples on ham?

People combine ham and pineapple to neutralize the saltiness of the ham. So when you see pineapple chunks on top of the cheese and ham of a pizza, or rings of pineapple layered on top of a beautiful roasted ham, or even with these ham and pineapple tortilla roll ups, it is to help balance out the salt. It also just tastes good!

I’ve never thought of blending together cream cheese and fresh pineapple for wraps. This is so good, and is going to be one of my favorite spread from now on. 🙂

  3. I loved this idea, and I had all of the ingredients, so I whipped up some pineapple cream cheese, and set it aside. Later, I made the wraps. BAD idea. The cream cheese had turned bitter from the pineapple. If you are going to use fresh pineapple, it should be served right away, something I learned from researching after the fact.
