This Sun Dried Tomato and Artichoke dip is a favorite appetizer for any party. It reminds me of my very favorite pizza, which is loaded with chewy sun dried tomatoes, tender artichokes, crisp bacon, and tangy feta cheese. The combination of flavors is so delicious all on its own, but even better when served with crackers, tortilla chips, or sliced sourdough bread. We love making a huge bowl for a Christmas party, game day gathering, or just a cozy night with a movie. Make a batch for your next party and watch it disappear!

Ingredients in Artichoke Dip

  • Cream cheese
  • Crumbled feta
  • Marinated artichoke hearts – drained and chopped
  • Sun dried tomatoes – packed in oil, chopped
  • Bacon – cooked and chopped
  • Green onions – optional

Suggestions for this Artichoke Dip Recipe

  • Give the cream cheese time to come to room temperature before blending with other ingredients. You can pop it into the microwave for about thirty seconds, stirring in between.
  • I love using crumbled Feta cheese for this recipe, especially the tomato and basil flavored variety from Athenos. But you can toss in queso fresco, goat cheese, or ricotta cheese if that’s what you have on hand. They’re all delicious!
  • Canned artichoke hearts are easy to find at your grocery store and simple to use. Make sure to drain them first, then chop into small pieces.
  • Same goes for the sun dried tomatoes. I like using the ones that come in a jar and packed in oil. They’re so flavorful and fragrant! Dice them into bite size pieces for this dip.
  • Don’t forget the bacon! You can cook up a few strips of regular bacon or turkey bacon. Or buy a bag of precooked bacon pieces (NOT bacon bits) to save you some time.
  • Garnish with diced green onions if you like.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you rinse sun-dried tomatoes?

Sun dried tomatoes packed in oil don’t need to be rinsed. They are very flavorful from the oil, spices, and herbs they have been soaking in. You can remove them from the oil and lightly pat them with a paper towel if you’d like.

What do you serve with dip?

The only limit is your imagination, but to get you started, here are some ideas: pita chips, tortilla chips, toasted bread, raw carrots, celery, raw red bell peppers, crackers, pita bread, cucumbers, or pretzels.

Can you keep the oil from sun-dried tomatoes?

Yes! Save the oil from the jar that the tomatoes have been soaking in, it works well to create dressings for salads as well as pouring it over pasta salad. Some people add it to hummus to boost the flavor! Another idea is using it in replacement of olive oil on bread when making homemade croutons.

  1. 5 stars
This sounds delicious. I used to make something similar but I never thought of adding feta. Yum. Feta is one of my favorite cheeses!

Sounds delicious! When you say serve warm, do you heat it up or are you making and serving it at the same time?

    1. Either way works! I usually give it a few hours in the refrigerator to give the flavors time to blend, then microwave a minute or two when ready to serve. But if you’re in a hurry, it’s also delicious served immediately.
