- 1 box Jiffy Cornbread Mix prepared, baked, and cooled (8.5 ounce box, prepared in a 9x9 pan)
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 large onion diced
- 1 cup celery diced
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon sage
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup chicken broth add more or less depending on how moist you like your dressing
Preheat oven to 350. Crumble the cooled cornbread into chunks.
In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add the onion and celery. Cook until the onions are soft and transparent. Add garlic and cook for 2 more minutes.
Combine cornbread crumbles, onion and celery mixture, sage, salt and pepper, and chicken broth. Stir to make sure everything is coated.
Place in a greased baking dish and cover with aluminum foil. Bake for 20 minutes.
Remove foil and bake 20 more minutes or until cornbread is golden brown.
- You need 3-4 cups of crumbled cornbread. You can use store bought cornbread or you can make your own.
- Store any leftovers covered in the fridge.
- Double the recipe if you have a larger group coming for Thanksgiving.
