Ground Chicken Patties

Crispy air fryer ground chicken patties made with a simple chicken mixture and parmesan breadcrumb coating. Serve them as burgers, with dipping sauce, or as an easy dinner protein.

Ingredients

For the Chicken Patties

  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

For the Crumb Coating

  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • vegetable oil spray or avocado oil spray

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, egg, mayonnaise, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until fully combined.

  • Cover the bowl and refrigerate the chicken mixture for 30 minutes.

  • Use an ice cream scoop to scoop the chilled chicken mixture onto parchment paper, making 4 equal portions.

  • Place a second piece of parchment paper over the chicken portions. Press each portion into a flat, round patty about 1/2 inch in thickness. Refrigerate the patties for 15 minutes.

  • In a shallow bowl, combine breadcrumbs, Italian seasoning, parmesan cheese, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Coat both sides of each patty in the breadcrumb mixture.

  • If the patties lose their shape, use a bowl upside down and swirl around the edges to help reshape.

  • Spray both sides of the patties with vegetable oil spray or avocado oil spray. Place the patties in the air fryer basket in a single layer.

  • Air fry at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes, flipping after 5 minutes. Cook until the patties are golden brown and the center of each patty reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

Notes

  • If using Italian seasoned breadcrumbs, leave out the Italian seasoning.
  • Ground chicken is sticky, so parchment paper makes shaping the patties easier.
  • Chill the chicken mixture before shaping and chill the patties again before coating.
  • Cook patties in a single layer in the air fryer.
  • Use a meat thermometer to make sure each patty reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • For crispier patties, use panko breadcrumbs.
