- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion chopped
- salt & pepper to taste
- 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
- 1/2 cup Bisquick or Krusteaz baking mix (either one works great)
- 1 cup milk
- 2 eggs
Heat oven to 400-degrees. Cook beef and onion in a skillet until cooked through and onions become clear (approximately 6-8 minutes).
Stir in salt and pepper.
Spray a glass pie plate with cooking spray and spread the beef mixture over the bottom. Top with shredded cheese.
Whisk together the baking mix, milk, and eggs in a medium-sized bowl until well blended (it will be pretty runny).
Pour over the beef mixture on the pie plate.
Bake for 25 minutes or until knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cut into wedges and serve!
- Drain the beef well so the pie does not turn greasy.
- Do not overmix the Bisquick mixture. Whisk just until combined.
- The batter will be thin before baking. That is normal.
- Let the pie rest before slicing so it has time to set.
- For a 9x13 pan, double the recipe and check for doneness around 30 to 35 minutes.
- Add lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, ketchup, mustard, or burger sauce after baking.
- Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days.
- To freeze, bake and cool the pie first, then wrap tightly and freeze for up to 3 months.
