These Reese’s Pieces Cookies are a favorite quick cookie recipe at our house. Colorful Reese’s Pieces candies combined with chopped Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and peanut butter chips all in a chocolaty cookie dough is a peanut butter lover’s dream! My kids go crazy for anything chocolate and peanut butter so these peanut butter cookies are their top choice when it comes to cookie baking. They love to help chop up their favorite candy and add them to the dough. This is a perfect recipe for using up leftover Halloween candy too!

Ingredients in Reese’s Pieces Cookies

These cookies are bursting with peanut butter flavor! And it’s a super easy dough to throw together when you have a sweet tooth. Here’s what you need:

  • Chocolate cake mix – unprepared. Using a cake mix for cookies is SO easy. No need to measure all sorts of dry ingredients. The entire flour mixture is all there for you in the cake mix!
  • Eggs – two whole eggs.
  • Butter – one cube butter, softened to room temperature.
  • Brown sugar – half a cup, packed.
  • Water – one tablespoon
  • Reese’s peanut butter chips – one cup, or more to taste.
  • Reese’s pieces – you can use regular or the mini Reese’s pieces.
  • Reese’s miniature peanut butter cups – just under a cup, chopped. Use the regular size or minis.

This cookie dough could not be easier to make, because you use a cake mix! If you’ve never used boxed cake mixes for cookies, I encourage you to try this recipe! Just cream a few ingredients together including butter or oil, eggs, vanilla extract if needed and some water to the mix and your cookie dough is done! It’s fudgy, chocolaty, chewy and so yummy! I love using devil’s food cake mix for added density but you can use any chocolate cake mix that you have on hand. Tips for Baking Cookies

  • Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl and use a stand mixer to whip everything together.
  • Use a cookie scoop to make cookie dough balls the same size. They’ll bake up more evenly in the oven.
  • Line your baking sheet with parchment paper so the cookies don’t stick. Also transfer your cookies to a cooling rack immediately after baking.
  • If you don’t want to bake all the cookies at once, pop cookie dough balls into the freezer! They’ll keep for up to three months, and you can thaw them out and bake anytime.

Add Other Candy Too!

With this easy cookie dough as a base you can add just about anything to it to create your favorite cookie treat. I like to dig through my kids’ Halloween candy for inspiration. Chop up just about any candy bar and create dozens of your favorites, like:

  • Almond Joy or Mounds
  • Kit Kat
  • M&Ms (any kind will work perfectly)
  • Junior Mints
  • Milky Way
  • Twix
  • Snickers
  • Baby Ruth
  • Butterfinger

If your cookie needs more bulk than just the candy, add chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, peanut butter chips and any kind of nuts. I love peanuts in these cookies, chopped pecans or walnuts. These are so much fun for kids to help make!
