I make this chunky cold crab dip to serve on crackers for an easy summer appetizer, but with imitation crab available anytime of year, it can be made anytime. I often make it for New Year’s Eve. If you are a fan of crab salad or a crab salad sandwich, this dip will be your new favorite thing! The seaside flavor takes me away to my dream beach vacation. I love the crunchy elements to this dip, the celery works so well with the crabmeat. Enjoy at your next fancy party, or on your next beachside picnic. Your guests will love it!

Ingredients

With only a few ingredients, this easy cold crab dip recipe can be made in minutes.

  • Imitation crabmeat – You can also use real jumbo lump crab meat. It’s whatever you can get ahold of and what you want to use. Imitation crabmeat can be found in the seafood section of the grocery store.
  • Celery- Chopped celery gives an excellent crunch!
  • Salt and pepper – To taste, adds a lot of flavor.
  • Mayonnaise – Gives the creaminess to this dip.
  • Fresh lemon juice – About ¼ of the lemon.
  • Fresh dill – Just to garnish, optional.

What to Serve with Cold Crab Dip

Serve this crab dip with whole wheat crackers, buttery crackers (like Ritz), club crackers, fresh pita chips, or baguette slices. You may also wish to enjoy with veggies such as lettuce to create a lettuce boat, carrot sticks, cucumber slices, or bell peppers.

Recipe Tips

For a creamier dip: Combine mayonnaise with 8 ounces of softened cream cheese for a creamier, more hearty dip.

Spice it up: For extra flavor and a little kick, add some Dijon mustard or even a little sriracha or hot sauce.

Make it ahead of time: This dip is so easy to make ahead of time to serve later. Once made, this product lasts 3 days when kept in the fridge and stored properly.

How Long Does Cold Crab Dip Last?

If you use imitation crab, it will last up to 3 days in the fridge, properly stored in a tightly closed Tupperware. If you use real crab meat, it will last 2-4 days, depending on when it was purchased. Also, remember to store it correctly and keep it cold. With both of these, remember that if anything smells off or fishy, it’s best to throw it away and not risk getting sick.
