Why is it Called a “Dirty” Dr Pepper?

The history goes way back, but the important piece is this– Any time something is added to soda, it becomes “dirty” whether it’s syrup, heavy cream, or fruit puree.

Three cups with soda, limes, ice, and flavoring

Other Dirty Soda Combinations

  • Dirty Diet Dr Pepper- use the exact same ingredients, but replace the regular Dr Pepper with diet.
  • Dirty Diet Coke- exact same as the Dirty Dr Pepper, but replace Dr Pepper with Diet Coke
  • ‘Cherry Bomb’- Pepsi, cherry syrup, coconut syrup, and vanilla cream
  • ‘Buttery Beer’- root beer, butterscotch syrup, vanilla cream
  • ‘Unlucky Duck’- Sprite, lemonade, strawberry syrup

Recipe Tip

half and half and coconut extract mixed in a small pitcher

To make this drink “extra dirty” add a little bit of half and half! Trust us – it is delicious!
