Blue Ribbon Barbecue Ribs

BlueRibbonRibs

These are possibly some of the best ribs I have ever had. They literally fall off the bone and melt in your mouth. MMmmm. They remind me a lot of Texas Roadhouse ribs. Our good friend, Jordan, was kind enough to share his recipe with us. I don’t know if he has actually won a blue ribbon for this recipe, but I am giving it a “FavFamilyRecipes” blue ribbon because they were simply amazing. Thanks Jordan!

1 rack baby back pork ribs
Pappy’s seasoning (or any other seasoning you like)
2 c. water
1 bottle of “Sweet Baby Ray’s” BBQ sauce
2/3 c. packed brown sugar
2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce

Rub ribs with seasoning and place in large crock pot (you may have to cut the ribs up so they all fit). Pour in water and cook on low heat for 6-8 hours, until ribs are cooked through and they are already starting to fall off the bone.

(This is what they look like after you take them out of the Crock Pot.. not very pretty yet):Combine BBQ sauce, sugar, and Worcestershire sauce in medium-sized bowl. Heat grill to medium-high heat and place 2-3 ribs sections on at a time, slathering completely with BBQ sauce mixture. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until it gets that good BBQ flavor and BBQ sauce gets cooked onto the meat. Place finished ribs on upper rack of grill to keep warm and to keep getting that smokey flavor while you are grilling the other ribs. Serve hot with remaining BBQ sauce.

YUM! Your photos make me want to reach up and grab one to eat…droolll….

  3. Love your site. I use recipes from it all the time. Just wanted to say that I've cooked this recipe twice now and spare ribs work great too. They are usually a little less expensive than baby back ribs.

  4. I absolutely love your blog and have used this recipe numerous times. As you say in your very first sentence, these are some of the best ribs I have ever had. The meat really does literally fall off the bone! We cooked it for our family this weekend and everyone was ravving about it! I've shared this recipe with numerous people! I love the ease of it from cooking in the crockpot, but the taste is the best!!! Thank you for adding this recipe to our list of favorites!!!!

  5. Sounds like heaven! My way is almost similar……I have always simmered my ribs in water with a few clove of garlic until almost falling off the bone. Then I take them out carefully and put the in a baking pan and bbq both sides. I add a little rib water so they don’t dry out, then cover tight with foil and finish off in the oven. Last 15 minutes I take the foli off. making sure there is a little liquid mixed with the bbq sauce so it doesn’t dry out. Finger licken good.Either way is the same result but this one works for me but will try adding Worcestershire sauce and brown sugar next time :)
