This Cherry Chocolate Cake recipe is as simple to make as it is tasty. It whips up in no time, yet is a decadent and delicious dessert. Our mom would make this as a quick Sunday dessert for us — I had no idea how easy it was until I made it on my own! I almost always have the ingredients on-hand… it is a great “emergency” dessert when you are asked last-minute (or forget until the last minute… which, to be honest, happens to me more than I care to admit) to bring a dessert to a church, family, or neighborhood function!
- 1 chocolate cake mix
- 8 oz. cream cheese
- 1 cup powdered suger
- 8 oz. cool whip
- 1 can cherry pie filling
- Bake cake mix according to directions, then cool.
- Mix cream cheese, powdered suger, and cool whip until smooth, then spread over cake. Just before serving, top individual slices with cherry topping.
