Golden Detox Smoothie

I needed this Golden Detox Smoothie today!  I have eaten so much junk over the holidays, I am ready to clean things up in my system.  This is the perfect transition smoothie too, it is naturally sweet and delicious and loaded with so much that is good for you!

Golden Detox Smoothie Recipe

I love the bright color of our Golden Detox Smoothie.  I think the golden color from the yellow and orange fruits and carrots give it a much more appetizing look than most detox smoothies. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not opposed to green smoothies, but sometimes the color is a little hard to choke down, especially after you have been eating bad.

Another thing that I love about this smoothie us that it’s really filling.  It actually made more than I could fit in my glass in the picture above, and it’s only 280 calories!  If you want to make it even more filling and sustaining you can add a little bit of vanilla protein powder, just be aware that it will also change your calorie total.

Another great thing about this smoothie is that it is packed with vitamin C.  This is a great one to eat when you feel a cold coming on, or just to stay on top of the cold season in general.  Whenever I start feeling a sore throat, scratchy voice, or achy body I like to load up on vitamin rich foods and it really seems to help my body kick the sickness.  Even when I am not sick, I know I just feel better and am less tired when I am getting more vitamins in.

Hi, what can I substitute for the honey greek yogurt? I don’t think we have that here in where I live.

    • Echo says:

You can use plain or vanilla yogurt instead of honey greek yogurt. If you use plain yogurt, you may want to add a teaspoon or so of honey to the smoothie for sweetness. Thanks for asking!

  2. Janice D. says:

How often do you drink this and could you omit the banana I am allergic for something else that work as well. Thanks

    • Echo says:

You can drink this as often as you would like – I like to drink it for breakfast. Sometimes, if I haven’t had the best eating day and want something light and healthy, I will drink it for dinner. My first choice for a substitute for the banana would be frozen mango chunks – or fresh if they are in season in your area. Strawberries or raspberries would also be very good.

Hi Emily, I am going to make this tomorrow if I can get a perfect pineapple at Whole Foods today. Thank you for all of your recipes. I print a lot of them and then make them based on your picture and what you have to say about the recipe.
After I click the PRINT RECIPE button the ad that is on the recipe before I click that button, shows up on my printed recipe with no option to remove it before printing. This forces me to waste ink. Can you prevent ads from showing up on the recipes that I print from your blog? Thank you.

    • Echo says:

Thanks Dezi! We are working on taking the ad off when you print the recipe. I’m sorry! It was off, then we had some kind of glitch. Our tech support is on it. Thank you for your patience!
